Hydrogen peroxide,with the chemical formula H2O2,is a viscous liquid that is blue in color and has a slight irritating odor.It is relatively stable in the dark and easily decomposes into oxygen and water when exposed to heat,light,or certain impurities.It can be miscible with water in any ratio.Due to its oxidation valence of-1,hydrogen peroxide can be used as a(strong)oxidant,(weak)reducing agent,bleaching agent,etc.It is widely used in inorganic synthesis(such as the production of sodium perborate),organic synthesis(such as the production of peracetic acid),medical disinfection,clinical chemistry,textile bleaching,food testing,and other fields.
